Ted Cruz hijacks Independence Day for Israel
Cruz just straight-up repackaged the 4th of July as an Israel hype post. The Entebbe raid is a 47-year-old military operation. Why is a US senator using America's birthday to glorify Israeli military action and call it "very Texan foreign policy"?
This is the explicit playbook: blur the line between American patriotism and unconditional support for Israel until nobody can tell the difference anymore. Independence Day becomes Israel day. Your country's birthday becomes a foreign lobby's marketing moment.
And he's not even being subtle about it.
Happy Fourth of July! Today is also the 47th anniversary of the daring Entebbe raid. I was only 5 at the time, but I remember being inspired by the amazing courage of the @IDF team that rescued the hostages & killed the terrorists. I thought, “that’s a very Texan foreign policy.”
