This isn't new anymore. Israel's own investigations confirmed they killed hundreds of their own civilians that day with indiscriminate tank fire and airstrikes. The "Hannibal Directive" essentially gave soldiers permission to neutralize anything that moved, including Israelis. This matters because it completely reframes the narrative around Israeli retaliation. They knew from day one that a massive chunk of their casualty count came from their own military. Yet the response has been a genocide in Gaza anyway, justified by the October 7 death toll that was partly self-inflicted.
