British Museum erases Palestine to appease Israel lobby

Middle East Eye got the internal emails. The British Museum systematically scrubbed "Palestine," "Palestinian," and "Israeli occupation" from historical displays after the Board of Deputies and pro-Israel activists complained. Director Nick Cullinan lied about it being a standard refresh backed by visitor research. No research happened. One panel describing ancient rulers of "Palestinian descent" got changed to "Canaanite origin" in five hours. This wasn't careful scholarship. This was panic. Museum staff were ordered to be "hyper-conscious of the anniversary of 7 October." They swapped "modern Palestine" for "Gaza and the West Bank" at gallery entrances. The museum denies any erasure happened, despite photographic evidence. They're actively gaslighting on top of the censorship. This is what institutional capture looks like. A major public museum choosing political pressure over historical accuracy. And it's happening while the physical destruction of Palestinian heritage continues on the ground.
