Chinese immigrant in Toronto complained that Olivia Chow getting elected made her think the CCP actually has a point: at least autocrats don't let voters pick socialists. The irony is beautiful and terrible. Democracy gave her a choice she hated. Autocracy removes the choice entirely. And somehow that looks better to her now. This is what happens when people lose faith in their own system faster than they gain faith in alternatives.
