Republicans in Texas are getting text messages promising a $5,000 check from Trump. This is the same guy who just announced $500 treasury-raid rebates without congressional approval. Either the promise inflates for the midterms or Texas is getting a different deal. Either way, it's cash politics dressed up as populism.
