Rob Sand's town halls have Republicans, Democrats, and independents singing America the Beautiful together before debate starts. It's the kind of vapid feel-good performance that hooks voters because they're desperate to believe politicians actually give a shit about unity instead of power. This is what passes for innovative politics now: a karaoke moment. And yeah, people eat it up because they're starved for something that doesn't feel like a knife fight. But it's still theater masking the fact that nothing actually changes.
