NYC Landlord Hit With $1K-Per-Day Court Order
Seth Miller, already on the Public Advocate's Worst Landlords list, just made history as the first NYC landlord court-ordered to pay $1,000 for every day his violations at 919 Prospect Ave in the Bronx went unresolved.
Worst violations get fixed by March 18th. All violations within 30 days. Or the Tenant Protection Unit goes back to court.
"Let this penalty be a warning to all bad landlords: We will use every tool at our disposal to protect tenants - in every borough."
The first-ever daily fine penalty against an NYC landlord sets a precedent that could actually hurt slumlords where they feel it most: the wallet.
