NYC grocery store ID requirement exposes voting hypocrisy

The setup is too perfect. NYC now requires ID to shop in city-owned grocery stores but will scream racism if you suggest ID for voting. The stated reason: prevent reselling discounted items. The actual mechanism: a card system, basically a grocery library card. This is what it looks like when institutions tie themselves in knots trying to have it both ways.

New York City will require IDs to prove you live in the city in order to shop in the city owned grocery stores. So you need an ID to shop in the city’s stores, but it would be racist to require an ID to vote. Perfection.
