Nexstar Debate Stole a Journalist's Question
A California political journalist sent candidates a "what letter grade would you give Gavin Newsom?" question. Nexstar's CA Governor debate organizers liked it so much they used it on air, including citing the candidates' responses to her, without ever crediting her.
Classic media behavior: lift the work, erase the source.
The @fox40 #CAGov Debate hosts should be paying @ZavalaA a residual for re-using her “what letter grade would you give @GavinNewsom?” Question. Candidates should be able to handle it a this time, right? Right?
A journalist's original debate question got lifted wholesale by a major TV network without attribution, which is a microcosm of how local journalists get exploited by bigger outlets.
