New York's pied-a-terre tax has these wealthy people scrambling. They're calling estate lawyers, hiring accountants, basically melting down over paperwork. All you need is your state tax return. The government set up a rule it can't even process correctly, and now the people it's supposed to hit are pretending compliance is impossible.
This is what peak privilege looks like: the infrastructure to dodge taxes exists, but asking them to organize their own documents is treated like a civil rights violation.
