The quoted response from a senator: "reverse-engineering" and "deeply subsidizing" - classic China threat-framing that ignores the actual fact being posted. BYD just has better battery tech. Period.
This is what passes for US policy analysis now. China builds a better product, we pretend they stole it and demand bans instead of asking why our own companies are getting lapped. The decline isn't because of Beijing. It's because we're governed by people who'd rather scapegoat than compete.
The Chinese Communist Party has an economic playbook: They often reverse-engineer a product, like cars, deeply subsidize it, flood markets to undercut all their competitors and drive them out of business.
