Trump wants rate cuts, doesn't understand bonds
Reporter mentions a rate hike could calm the bond market. Trump responds: "To me it doesn't reassure a bond market. To me, you should do a rate cut because we should be at 1% or 0.5%. We should not be at 4% because everything as I explained, we could do tremendous good for ourselves by just not trading with countries."
He's confusing economic mechanics with his tariff fantasy again. Rate cuts don't fix what bond markets are actually concerned about. The man running the economy thinks isolationism solves structural financial problems.
