Religious affiliation shifts across US adulthood
Protestants hold strongest: 70% stay, 23% become unaffiliated.
Catholics split wider: 56% stay, 26% become unaffiliated, 13% switch to Protestant.
Unaffiliation is the big story. Nearly a quarter of raised Protestants drop religion entirely. Over a quarter of raised Catholics do the same. The pipeline from childhood faith to adult "none" is real and accelerating.
