Stewart defends Piker against Carville
Jon Stewart actually called out James Carville for the dismissive "that young guy that's a fiery preacher for economic populism?" bit.
The thing is, Carville's doing exactly what establishment Democrats always do when anyone younger talks about actual economic problems: reduce it to personality and tone. Make it weird, make it small, make it generational theatre instead of policy.
Stewart's not wrong to push back. Piker's audience cares about material conditions. Carville's instinct is to smirk. Those are different conversations.
