California's insurance scam lets drivers off easy

A driver hits your parked car with California's Low Cost Auto Insurance Program coverage. That covers $3,000 total per accident. Your damage alone is over $3,000. There's another victim too, both drowning in the same tiny pot. Meanwhile, normal drivers have to carry $15,000 in property damage liability. This program lets qualifying low-income drivers carry $3,000 for everything, regardless of immigration status. So California built a system where you eat the cost when someone else causes the damage. You don't choose their insurance. You don't cause the accident. Your car is sitting there minding its business. Doesn't matter. You're paying the difference. This is what happens when policy makers treat accident victims as acceptable losses.
