GOP leadership held a sign attack on Democrats for "trans-ing the mice" because they saw the word "trans" in "transgenic mice" and their brain stopped working. Transgenic mice are genetically modified animals used in actual lifesaving medical research. Cancer. Alzheimer's. Diabetes. Neurological disorders. Real medicine that keeps people alive. But Republicans saw the word "trans" and decided this was the own. So now they're actively sabotaging medical research because they can't tell the difference between a scientific term and culture war talking points. This is where we are. People will die from treatable diseases because these people are too stupid or too committed to the bit to know what words mean.
