The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran is now in force. Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz, US lifts its naval blockade. This is supposedly Trump's doing. He gets credit for "steadfast commitment to diplomacy." The whole region gets a chance to breathe. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt all played roles. Field Marshal Asim Munir (Pakistan) was instrumental in mediating. Pakistan's fingerprints are all over this. That matters. Whether this actually holds or whether it's theater that collapses in 72 hours remains to be seen. But on paper, this is the kind of outcome that should have happened years ago.
