Ezra Klein says what Piker's being crucified for
Ezra Klein made essentially the same argument Hasan Piker is being denounced for, but gets no blowback. Hakeem Jeffries quotes a dangerous lie about Jews inviting violence on themselves, which is real. But there's a massive gap between what different people can actually say without getting destroyed for it.
The Piker pile-on happens in a specific context: Klein, a mainstream centrist figure, can discuss Palestinian political interests without being branded antisemitic. Piker, a leftist streamer, can't say anything adjacent without getting framed as threatening Jewish safety. Same words, completely different consequences depending on who's speaking.
The malicious claim that American Jews are inviting violence against themselves is dangerous and antisemitic. There is zero justification for threats against the safety of our Jewish brothers and sisters at a moment of rising hate. We will fight the cancer of antisemitism with the fierce urgency of now.
