Gutting the IRS doesn't save money. It costs money. Every dollar you strip from tax enforcement is multiple dollars you'll never collect.
DOGE walked in, fired the people who chase down tax cheats, and called it fiscal responsibility. It's the opposite.
@politico's Weekly Tax features the new @The_Budget_Lab report on the reduction in workforce at IRS. “Weakening the IRS by starving it of resources has significant consequences,” said the Budget Lab’s @NatashaRSarin. “As our work shows, gutting the IRS drains public finances, undermines tax fairness, and erodes the quality of services that an agency which touches every American each and every year is able to provide."
