The real story isn't whether "dirtbag leftism" is viable. It's that a mainline Reddit guy, the kind of person who should've stayed apolitical or drifted right, consciously moved left. That terrifies the left liberal establishment because they've never had to actually engage with those guys before. They're used to either converting them or dismissing them. Not having them show up already radicalized.
The Platner campaign being such a national talking point is interesting because the question really moving behind the scenes here seems to be βis masculinist βdirtbagβ leftism politically viableβ?
