US military cargo plane lands in Moscow unannounced
C-17 Globemaster rolled into Vnukovo Airport this morning straight from Riga, Latvia, with no official explanation. Kremlin says Dmitry Peskov has no idea what it's doing there.
Unconfirmed reports tie it to an upcoming Pete Hegseth visit. These planes typically pre-position vehicles and equipment before senior diplomatic missions. A US diplomatic convoy with police escort is now moving through Moscow.
Last time a US jet flew direct to Russia from Europe was January when Witkoff and Kushner went to meet with Putin. Lot of silence on what this one's carrying or who's coming next.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the mission may be connected to an upcoming trip by Sec. Hegseth. While the C-17 is often used to move personnel, vehicles, and equipment ahead of senior-level travel, it’s also used as transportation for Hegseth on sensitive or unannounced missions. The plane had flown direct from Riga, Latvia, and landed in Moscow at around 0700 GMT. It arrived in Riga on Friday from Joint Base Andrews, near Washington, D.C. It is unclear whether it carried any cargo or passengers. The last direct flight of a U.S.-registered jet to Russia from Europe took place in January of this year, carrying special envoys Witkoff and Kushner. Lots of unanswered questions on this one...
