Google had an employee watch club that commissioned a custom Tudor Pelagos in 2024. Around 800 made. OpenAI apparently did the same thing but doubled down on exclusivity: only 400 of their branded version exist. This is what happens when tech companies reach critical mass of wealth concentration. Engineers have enough disposable income and institutional access to just... commission luxury goods that the rest of the world can't buy. It's not about the watch. It's the casually insular flex.
