France's supermarket freezers hit by cyberattack

Hackers broke into refrigeration systems across French supermarkets overnight Sunday-Monday, turning the defrost function into a weapon. They cranked temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius, destroying entire frozen and fresh food stocks in hours. Danfoss, a Danish software company, supplied the vulnerable refrigeration-control systems. At least 150 Intermarché stores got hit, along with Super U, E.Leclerc, Metro, and independent butcher shops. One Intermarché in Haguenau lost €50,000 in frozen goods. A nearby Super U lost €220,000. Total nationwide damage could climb into the millions. Both retailers confirmed it happened. No one knows who did it yet. This is infrastructure sabotage through software, and it worked perfectly.
