DHS report exposes "Alligator Alcatraz" torture

The Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General just released a report on the now-closed Everglades detention camp where ICE systematically violated its own standards. The kicker: detainees were locked in metal cages in Florida heat as "calming areas." That's the euphemism they used for a torture device. This wasn't an accident. It was policy. And it only got exposed because an inspector general did their job.
