US denies coup plot in Malaysia. Sure.

Abdul Hadi Awang, head of PAS (Malaysia's biggest party by federal seats), just went on record at his party congress saying that back in 2014, around Obama's Malaysia visit, PAS leaders got invited to the US embassy. There they were told the US wanted to know if they'd be interested in toppling the government and taking over. The US, Awang said, was "prepared to assist the effort." The US embassy's response: "Never happened. False." Which is exactly why you know it probably did.
