Here's the scale of the Stratos plant problem for Utah. If it ran purely on the state's proven natural gas reserves, it'd drain them completely in under a decade. Meanwhile Utah's already emitting 55-63 million tons of CO2 annually. Per capita, that puts the state at 6th worldwide if it were its own country. Adding a massive new gas plant to that equation is insane. This isn't about local energy independence. It's about sacrificing a region's air quality and reserves for corporate extraction profit.
