Satellite imagery shows the Department of Defense opened a new corridor on Oman's side of the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is about 1,600 feet wide with a natural depth of roughly 93 feet, so minimal dredging was needed to handle VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers). Ships using this route stay completely hidden from Iran's sightline because of the island of Jazirat Musandam and Earth's curvature. Means US can move crude without triggering another shipping war in one of the world's most critical chokepoints.
