Lake gets corrected, apology for deadnaming

A website listed Lake America as Lake Ontario, someone caught it, and they posted a correction that includes the phrase "apologize for deadnaming the lake." The terminology slippage here is obvious: deadnaming is a specific harm tied to transgender identity and dignity. A lake doesn't have a dead name. It's a geographic feature that was mislabeled. The confusion between a simple data error and a social harm distorts what both mistakes and accountability actually mean. This is what happens when language gets stretched too thin to cover everything.
