Construction equipment theft is basically nonexistent in America
You drive around the US and see millions of dollars in machinery just sitting there. Unguarded. Nobody watching it. And it almost never gets stolen.
Says something real about trust levels here. Which is ironic given how much the discourse dwells on decline and chaos.
In 2024 UC Berkeley began building student housing on an abandoned lot that had been taken over by junkies. Seething progressives vandalized the construction equipment and the university had to built a fort of containers around the lot to continue construction.
