California criminalizes exposing immigration fraud
California's Attorney General's wife authored AB 2624, the "Stop Nick Shirley Act," which fines citizens and journalists a minimum $4,000 for exposing fraud in immigration service providers and strips First Amendment protections. The bill shields NGOs, nonprofits, legal offices and healthcare facilities serving immigrants from scrutiny. Instead of transparency on how tax dollars flow through these organizations, California is using the law to bury investigations.
The bill passed while politicians pretend they're protecting vulnerable populations. They're protecting their own funding streams.

This bill will protect NGOs, nonprofits, legal offices, healthcare facilities and learing centers who provide services to immigrants. If an immigration service provider gives you a piece of paper saying you cannot publish your video, you may be fined $4,000 and have to pay for their legal fees. Instead of pushing for more transparency, California is trying to shield journalists and citizens from looking into where their tax dollars are going. California politicians need the fraud to continue. EXPOSE IT ALL.
