Trump's son profited from Kazakhstan mining deal days before administration signed it

Maggie Haberman asked Karoline Leavitt the obvious question: did Trump know his older son took a 20% stake in a company six days before the administration signed a mining deal with Kazakhstan involving that same company? Leavitt's answer was "no, he found out when the media reported it." So the president's son orchestrated a financial interest in a foreign deal the administration then greenlighted, and Trump claims zero knowledge until it hit the news. This is the setup for every conflict of interest scandal ever. Family members profit from government decisions while insisting the guy in charge had no idea. Except Leavitt is banking on people not asking the follow-up: why would the son move that fast unless he knew the deal was coming?

Haberman: The administration signed a mining deal with Kazakhstan for a little known U.S. Company. Six days before the deal was signed, the president's older son with other partners and took a 20% investment in the company related to the deal. What did the president know about his son's involvement in this arrangement and when did he find out about it? Leavitt: From my understanding, nothing. They would never do anything they would put the president in the place of a conflict of interest Haberman: So he did not learn about it until it was in the media? Leavitt: That’s my understanding.
