Nick Shirley, who's LDS, showed up to film at an Islamic center in Texas. Got told to leave. Here's the thing: Shirley knows exactly how LDS temples work. Non-members can't enter. Members without a temple recommend can't enter. Members WITH a recommend still can't film inside. You have to turn the camera off. But somehow that institutional gatekeeping is fine. An Islamic center doing the exact same thing? Suddenly it's "the mask slipping" and proof that "parts of Texas are off-limits unless you convert." The hypocrisy isn't even hidden. He's demanding access to a private religious space under the cover of journalism while his own church would throw him out for filming, no questions asked. The difference is he's not Muslim, so it feels like discrimination to him instead of normal religious practice.
