RNC just sent out a fundraising text from Vice President Vance that reads: "If you can't give right now, don't. Groceries cost what they cost." This is a real sentence in a real fundraising ask. A Republican official just told his own donors that inflation has crushed their grocery budgets and simultaneously asked them for money anyway. The cognitive dissonance is so sharp it could cut glass. Either they're admitting the economy is broken, or they think their base is stupid enough to read that and feel compelled to send cash. Maybe both.
