Thirty-two House Democrats just sided with the GOP to make it a federal crime to bail people out of jail. This is what happens when both parties compete to be the harshest on crime, pandering to some imaginary majority that doesn't exist. Criminalize poverty. Criminalize solidarity. Criminalize anything that lets poor people actually get out of jail before trial.
