AIPAC's actual mission: blocking pro-Palestine Jews
AIPAC dropped millions to crush Andy Levin in Michigan. Levin is Jewish, former synagogue president. That's exactly why he was a threat to them. Their stated mission is fighting antisemitism, but the moment a Jewish candidate opposes their Israel agenda, he becomes the enemy.
The quoted op-ed tries to frame this as AIPAC protecting Jews from antisemites. That's the cover story. The actual story is simpler: they fund politicians who back Israel unconditionally, and they eliminate those who don't, regardless of religion or background. When your target is a rabbi, your crusade isn't about protecting Judaism.
Detroit News: "A companion objective of AIPAC is to ensure antisemitism doesn't gain a significant foothold in this country. Helping deny a national platform to a man who stands on the stage with confirmed antisemites is essential to that work. No one would object if the NAACP spent whatever it took to defeat a racist in a Senate contest. Why is it so objectionable that AIPAC is going all out to block a candidate whose views are an abomination to Jews?" https://www.detroitnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/nolan-finley/2026/07/30/nolan-finley-aipacs-spending-to-defeat-el-sayed-is-in-americas-interest/91085396007/
