Fish Washes Up, Earthquake Truthers Activated
Another oarfish washed ashore in Danang, Vietnam on March 4th, and the earthquake prediction crowd is fully online about it.
The theory: oarfish sense electromagnetic pre-earthquake signals and surface before major quakes. People are pointing to the Tohoku M9.1 in 2011 and the Kamchatka M8.8 in 2025 as precedent.
To be clear, this is not how seismology works. Scientists have studied the oarfish-earthquake correlation repeatedly and found no statistically significant link. The pattern-matching here is classic post-hoc reasoning: you only remember the fish when the quake happens.
That said, the fish is real and it did wash up. Draw your own conclusions about everything else.
Wow okay, TWO very large deep sea oarfish, often referred to as "Doomsday Fish", washed ashore in Cabo, Mexico on February 20th 2026. Here is a picture of one of them, they were about the same size. February 20th is the EXACT same day as the Saturn-Neptune once every 36 years great planetary conjunction. As myself and many others have been tracking, oarfish sightings at the surface or at the beach DO increase significantly before high-magnitude earthquakes. The last two biggest of earthquakes, the 2025 M8.8 Kamchatka Megaquake and the 2011 M9.1 Great Tohoku Earthquake both had numerous oarfish washing ashore in the weeks and months proceeding the events. Oarfish are very sensitive to their electric field environment, and it's theorized that electromagnetic pre-earthquake signals before powerful earthquakes drive them up from the depths, leading to their death :( The fact that these two gentle giants washed ashore the day of the hugely significant Saturn-Neptune Great Conjunction is highly synchronistic, and now a high-magnitude earthquake alert for Central America, America, and the west coast of the USA is prudent, with Mexico being the highest risk location for the next few months... Oarfish sightings are being used to predict a major Pacific Rim earthquake, which is exactly the kind of pseudoscience that spreads fast and should be called out immediately.
