Week of Sep 7
Iran's missiles wrecked US bases and captured American hardware while the Gulf economy cratered, and the Houthis seized a global shipping chokepoint. The GOP held a midterm convention that collapsed into self-parody, and Trump kept promising checks he can't fund.
Iran gutted the US position in the Gulf. A single Iranian strike erased half a billion dollars in hardware and proved Trump's victory claims false. Iran hit ten vessels, captured an Anduril drone and a defense contractor's field reality, destroyed a CIA facility in Riyadh, and the Navy Secretary now says Iran destroyed the Bahrain base. Iran's parliament moved toward NPT withdrawal and weapons tests.
The regional economy is collapsing under wars it didn't start. Qatar's LNG empire folded in six months, Saudi oil markets crashed, Yemen hit the main pipeline and pushed Brent to $109, and California pumps maxed out at $9.999. The Houthis seized Perim, taking one of four critical chokepoints, while Saudi-backed forces surrendered en masse. MBS begged Trump to strike Yemen; Trump refused.
The GOP convention was a live collapse. The HUD Secretary tried to grope a congresswoman on stage, Cruz led execution chants, and the party paraded departing Democrats as its message. Trump promised $5,000 checks with no funding mechanism and invented $21 trillion in tariff revenue to dodge the math.
Israel keeps documenting its own crimes. Former soldiers described a kill-maximization system, an Air Force major detailed paramedic killings, and Israel detonated 1,100 tons in Lebanon, triggering a 4.1 quake. United Airlines runs undisclosed weapons shipments on passenger flights.
Mamdani governs while others perform. NYC's mayor toured all five boroughs and shook Giuliani's hand at the 9/11 ceremony that Republicans wanted him barred from.
