Niu Lai went from rough animation nobody was supposed to care about to actual phenomenon. Theaters across China now hand-making promotional posters because the film has no budget for marketing. Started earning 7,000 yuan in nine days. Now projected to hit 5.98 million yuan. Theater staff are basically becoming poster artists out of desperation and enthusiasm.
After going viral for its rough animation, Niu Lai is now projected to earn 5.98 million yuan (US$830,000), up from just 7,169 yuan in its first nine days.
