Trump betrayed maritime workers for oil
Met a union mariner at a wine bar in SF who's losing his mind over Trump's Jones Act waiver. Called it the greatest betrayal of workers since Reagan fired the air traffic controllers.
Here's the kicker: most of his coworkers voted for Trump.
The waiver is insane. Shipping oil between Houston and New York costs twice as much as shipping it to London because of the Jones Act protections for American maritime workers. Trump just handed that away. His own voters are the ones who lose.
This is what happens when MAGA workers believe the theater instead of following their material interests. They voted to get fucked.
In 2025, shipping a barrel of oil between Houston and New York (1915 nautical miles) cost more than TWICE as much as it did to ship the same barrel from New York to London (3312 nm). Thanks, Jones Act!
