Iran moves toward NPT withdrawal and nuclear tests
Iranian lawmakers are fast-tracking a bill to pull out of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and conduct nuclear weapons tests. MP Haji-Deligani says the move is necessary because Iran needs nuclear deterrence after what he claims are IAEA leaks to hostile forces and strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
"We should conduct the necessary tests for a nuclear weapon as soon as possible," Haji-Deligani stated.
This follows an earlier NPT withdrawal proposal from August 21 and the IAEA's referral of Iran to the UN Security Council.
