Meta's rolling out a mandatory update that disables the camera if the recording LED gets physically drilled out or tampered with. This is a direct response to reporting that exposed people drilling out the indicator light to secretly film without disclosure. The fix works, which is good. But the fact that it required public pressure and an exposé to make a hardware fix that obvious says everything about how little Meta cares about privacy by default.
