Software that rats on jaywalkers using stolen cameras
A developer built a system that scrapes footage from unprotected surveillance cameras worldwide to identify people crossing streets at the wrong time. Then you press a button and it emails the local cops.
This is what happens when someone has the technical ability to do something but zero understanding of what should actually exist. Tapping unsecured security feeds to automate petty enforcement is a showcase in how easy it is to weaponize the surveillance infrastructure that already blankets cities. The casual cheerfulness about it makes it worse, not better.
This is a proof of concept for what authoritarian systems do once they have scale.
